Pantone’s Color of the Year Receives First Typographic Expression Courtesy of Monotype

Last week’s announcement of the 2026 Pantone Color of the Year, Cloud Dancer, left many folks feeling positively nonplussed. Sure, white isn’t even a color, but in a year where Oxford proclaimed that the word of the year was “rage bait,” it does seem like a curious decision, not to mention this incredibly lackluster collab with Play-Doh.

I mean, you have to go out of your way to make Play-Doh feel like an empty yawn. They have a FUN FACTORY, goshdarnit!

However, one partnership with Pantone marks a first for the color experts, as they turned to Monotype to handpick their first-ever typographic expression. As chosen by Monotype’s Executive Creative Type Director, Charles Nix, Jensen Arabique is intended to balance the feeling of calm and simplicity one gets from the white hue.
